Maus (Books 1 and 2)

These books are nonfiction and talk about how Art's father, Vladek lived through the Holocaust. This books shows Art talk to his father about the Holocaust, but also shows the story in pictures, making the story feel more intense and realistic. Vladek used to be a money-making man who was handsome and had all the girls falling for him. His life seemed to be perfect, until the Nazis came along. This is an exciting book explaining the suffering, escaping and deaths that came among Vladek. I had to read this book for a class in school and I really liked how it was a graphic novel. The reason I liked that it was a graphic novel was because felt that it was easier to get into the story and visualize. I also really don't like reading, but since this contained pictures, it was much easier to imagine and follow. Overall, I really liked this book because it was very intense and had you sitting at the edge of your seat.
